Episode 3: Three Black Lives

“Czechs should be able to relate to this because of the police brutality that a lot of them suffered, their parents suffered, their grandparents suffered, during the communist era. But also at the same time, too, any encounter that you’ve ever had with a Black person should make you feel like you want to be a part of this. But at the same time, too, just being human should make you want to join this. You seeing how easily somebody’s life can be taken over something so small.”

In the midst of the summer of 2020, three Black women process the murder of George Floyd and grapple with the question “Are Czechs racist?” Featuring Téaira Marque, Becky (Instagram’s Jamaica Queen), and Tonya Graves.

Becky’s Instagram blog can be found here.

Our sincere thanks to Evangelista Sie and the entire Black City Stories team. They are doing very inspiring work over here.

Music by Blue Dot Sessions. Our outro this week is “Černá,” or “Black,” by Kašpárek v Rohlíku feat. the great Tonya Graves.
